Teacher Education - Assessment Results

Education majors must pass the PRAXIS I and II examinations in order to be able to teach in Pennsylvania. PRAXIS I: Pre-professional Skills Test is designed to measure basic skills in reading, writing, and mathematics. PRAXIS II: Subject Assessments measure knowledge of specific subjects that K-12 educators will teach, as well as general and subject-specific teaching skills and knowledge. RMU is a PRAXIS test site and the Education Department receives the test results for its teacher certification students both during and after their period of enrollment at RMU.

Effective June 23, 2008 all RMU teacher certification programs are accredited by the Teacher Education Accreditation Council (TEAC).  The TEAC accreditation extends until June 23, 2013.
